The UV fused silica plano convex cylindrical lens will focus the incident light onto the line, with a positive focal length, and consists of a plane and a convex cylinder.
Flat convex cylindrical lenses are a high-quality choice for one-dimensional magnification applications. A typical application is to shape deformed light beams using a pair of cylindrical lenses. In order to reduce spherical aberration, when converging the collimated beam into a line, the collimated light should be incident from the curved surface of the lens, while when aligning the linear light source, the linear light source should be incident on the plane of the lens. UV fused silica glass has a wider spectral range (185nm-2.1 μ m) than K9 optical glass. It has excellent transmittance in the UV band. It has lower refractive index, better uniformity, smaller thermal expansion coefficient, higher chemical resistance and low fluorescence. It can be used to make various optical elements, such as lenses, window plates, filters, splitters, mirrors, prisms, etc.
